It all started
with a beep.

Title

My name is Bob. I spent most of my twenties at festivals, clubs, and late nights in sweaty venues. I never thought much about protecting my hearing. Earplugs felt unnecessary, not for someone like me.

Then one morning I woke up with a high-pitched ring in my ear that didn't go away.

That constant sound, known as tinnitus, changed everything.

Loud venues weren't just uncomfortable anymore. They felt dangerous. And I started realizing how easily we take our hearing for granted until it's already gone.

I tried everything, nothing felt right.

I tried everything.
Nothing worked.

I needed earplugs I could actually wear to clubs, concerts, and festivals. So I tested everything on the market: big-name brands, custom-molded options, so-called "invisible" designs.

They all had the same problems. Some hurt after an hour. Others killed the music entirely, like listening through a pillow. And most looked awkward or clinical, the kind you pull out and hide in your pocket.

Then I understood why.

Then I understood why.

It wasn't just the products. It was the whole approach. Cheap foam plugs don't just muffle sound. They block frequencies unevenly, crushing highs and letting bass bleed through.

That underwater feeling isn't just annoying. It forces your brain to work harder to process what it's hearing, which leads to fatigue, headaches, and over time, the kind of cumulative damage that adds up quietly.

Nobody had built an earplug that actually respected how music works.

I didn't want to choose between protecting my ears and enjoying the night. And I knew I wasn't the only one. So I decided to build what didn't exist yet.

Two and a half years of work.

Two and a half years of work.

I partnered with audiologists, sound engineers, and product designers to start from scratch.

Not to make a better version of what was already out there. To reimagine the whole thing.

We tested dozens of acoustic filter prototypes.
We obsessed over fit, sound clarity, and wearability. The goal was one thing: an earplug that protects your hearing without changing how music sounds, and that you'd actually want to keep in.

Introducing Hears.

Introducing Hears.

Two and a half years later, Hears was born.

Our High-Fidelity Attenuation Filters reduce volume across all frequencies evenly, so bass, mids, and highs all come down together.
Music keeps its shape. Just quieter..

They're featherlight, designed to wear for hours. And instead of hiding in your ear,
Hears was built to be seen: a signature stem in 8 colorways, sitting just above the ear canal.
It won a Red Dot Design Award.

When earplugs look this good, people actually wear them. And that's what protects your hearing.

They didn't just like them. They sent us messages. Emails. Reviews that read like letters. People telling us they can't imagine going to a show without Hears anymore. Even touring DJs started wearing them during their sets, not just backstage.

Join us on the day Hears started looking like Hears. Color selection with the design team, a visit to our filter provider in Europe, and the arguments behind every decision that shaped the final product. Nick and I filmed the whole thing. Neither of us thought we'd actually use the footage.

Hears is designed and produced entirely in Europe. Not because it's a selling point, but because the filter technology we use requires it.

The same acoustic engineers who develop hearing solutions for touring professionals are the ones who make ours.

Most brands show you the finished product. Here's what went into building it.
